地台
platform
    大陆上自形成以后未再遭受强烈褶皱的稳定地区。曾称陆台。1885年由E.修斯提出。在地槽地台学说中,地台是与地槽相对应的地壳稳定构造单元,以含有未变质的沉积盖层区别于地盾。
   地台具有双层结构,即由基底和盖层构成。基底由前震旦纪或前寒武纪的巨厚已变质的沉积岩系与火山岩组成,构造复杂,一般遭受过较强的区域变质作用。基底岩石建造序列属地槽型。盖层由震旦纪或寒武纪以来的沉积岩系组成,其厚度一般不超过1000~2000米,未经受区域变质作用。其沉积物组成地台型建造序列。盖层与基底以角度不整合接触。地台的主要特征有:①形态上呈等轴状,面积一般超过数十万平方千米,地貌反差小。②沉积建造多由高成熟度、分选良好的浅海或陆相地层组成,厚度不大但分布广泛,地层成席状体,对比性良好,有石英砂岩建造、粘土铁质建造、碳酸盐建造等。③岩浆活动微弱,以大面积的陆相溢流玄武岩为特征。④构造变形弱,多发育短轴背斜和盆地;⑤盛产石油、煤等能源和其他沉积矿产。
   地台内部按沉积盖层的发育及变形情况可划分出 3种次级构造单元:台背斜,是地台上的相对隆起区,盖层厚度小;台向斜,是地台上相对坳陷区,盖层厚度大;台褶带,是地台上构造性质相对最活动的带,地层厚度大,其中并可出现线状褶皱和断裂。
