植物形态：一年生草本。茎直立或下部伏地，高达90厘米，稍粗壮，分枝稀疏，茎节膨大，茎通常呈淡红紫色，全株散布腺点及毛茸。叶互生，广披针形，基部楔形，先端渐尖，叶表深绿色，有八字状的黑斑，叶鞘薄膜质，口缘生长刺。花淡红色，顶生穗状花序，下垂状。花被5片，雄蕊7~8枚，子房上位，1室。瘦果有三棱，外包宿存萼。 生态分布：产我国南北各地；多生于溪边，山坡湿地，村落城镇庭园中也有生长（花秋季开放）。 药用部分：根、茎、叶入药，夏秋季采收。 用途：性味辛、温，有小毒。能祛风湿，通关窍，散瘀，解毒，杀虫，止血。用量：5~6钱。
