【票据交换】亦称“票据清算”。同一城市各银行对相互代收、代付的票据集中在票据交换所进行交换及资金清算的行为。通过票据交换，各银行之间不必逐笔划转款项和分头传送结算凭证，既节省费用，又缩短清算过程，加速资金周转。操作过程是:同一城市中的各银行按统一规定的时间将票据集中到票据交换所，将收进的他行票据(即属于应在其他银行开户单位账户记账的各种凭证)分别提交有关银行，并收回其他银行收进的本行票据(即属于应在本行开户单位账户记账的各种凭证)，相互抵消应收应付的资金。抵消后的差额通过各银行在中央银行的账户清算。1949年前，中国曾仿效西方国家设立票据交换所，进行票据交换。中华人民共和国成立后金融系统未设专门的票据交换所，但票据交换业务发展很快，在全国各大城市中普遍由中国人民银行的分行或支行建立票据交换机构，组织票据清算。
