（术语）又云三际。过去现在未来也。世者迁流之义。有为之事物，一刹那之间，亦不止，生了直灭。因之谓来生为未来世，生了为现在世，灭了为过去世。此于事物迁流上，假立三种之世。离事物别无世之实体也。又三世有就时就法二种，若为时之经过之三世，则过去为前，未来为后，其次第为过现未。即十二缘起之次第也。若为法之生起之三世，则未来为前，过去为后。是为未现过之次第。以事物之生起有未生（未）、已生（现）、后灭（过）之次第也。犹如未至名为前路，已往名为后路。生住异灭之四相是也。宝积经九十四曰：“三世，所谓过去未来现在。云何过去世？若法生已灭，是名过去世。云何未来世？若法未生未起，是名未来世。云何现在世？若法生已未灭，是名现在世。”
