风险指企业一项行动可能会产生的各种各样的结果的不确定性。风险的情况可分为纯粹的或投机的。纯粹的风险是只可能损失而不可能获取的情况;投机的风险是可能获取也可能损失的情况。经营企业是必然要承担一定风险的，但风险如果过大，就有可能招致损失。所以了解企业的各种风险，并研究其对策，乃是风险管理的重要任务。企业处理风险的方法有:(l)回避风险。如新产品在试制过程中发现它问题很多而停止试制;(2)减少风险。如对设备加强预防检修，以减少设备事故造成生产中断的风险;(3)接受风险。如有的公司采用自我保险的方法把风险接受下来，即每月公司存放一笔钱作为专门基金供将来发生事故时抵偿损失之用;(4)转移风险。转移风险的方法主要有:套头交易、转包和购买保险等。 风险管理的实施一般分为五个步骤:(l)风险的辨识，即运用多种科学方法对风险进行分析，以充分认识各种潜在的风险因素，以及发生灾损事故的可能性，提高对风险的防范能力，掌握风险管理的主动权;(2)风险的预测，即运用科学的预测方法事先对风险损失作出充分地估计，力求避免或转嫁风险;(3)选择风险管理的工具，制定有效地综合运用这些工具解决问题的各种最佳处理方案;(4)有效地实施最佳方案，以尽可能地消除可能发生的危险或降低风险的程度，以较少的耗费取得最大的安全效益;(5)方案的成果评价，以决定是否修正决策方案。 风险管理的内容是多种多样的，其管理范围也在日益扩大。它对企业生产与经营目标的实现起着相当大的作用。为了有效地进行风险管理，现在欧美一些国家的大企业都设有风险管理部门，由风险经理领导这一部门，负责风险管理工作。风险管理部门的组织方法也是风险管理理论研究的重要课题之一。【风险管理】企业对生产、经营过程中可能发生的意外风险采取预防或消除措施，以及在风险损失发生后采取弥补措施的一种科学管理方法。风险管理是30年代在美国产生的。现在，风险管理的地位和作用为更多的企业家所承认，其方法亦被广泛地采用，已成为一种重要的现代管理手段。
