This paper points out that Cina (支那) should have been from Jin rather than Qin, Kumdan from gongting (宫廷) rather than jingdu (京都),Tawghac from Da Wei (大魏)rather than Tuoba (拓拔),Wonu (倭奴) from Wonna rather than Ainu,and Tubo (吐蕃) from Mtho-bon rather than Bod.
本文指出,"支那"Cina 应对"晋"不对"秦",Kumdan 应对"宫廷"不对"京都","桃花石"Tawghac应对"大魏"不对"拓拔","倭奴"应对 Wonna 不对 Ainu,"吐蕃"应对 Mtho-Bon 或 Tho-Bon 不对 Bod。

古代中国对日本的泛称。首见于《山海经》。《汉书·地理志》载："乐浪海中有倭人,分为百余国",可能指以北九州为中心的许多小部落国家。《后汉书·倭传》载，光武帝建武中元二年（公元57），"倭奴国奉贡朝贺，......光武赐以印绶"。1784年在福冈市志贺岛发现的"汉委奴国王"金印证实了此事。一般认为，"委（倭）奴国"即北九州博多附近的傩县。这说明公元 1世纪中，日本北九州一带已与汉朝交通。（见彩图）
