This paper, starting from the poem entitled Han-guang in Confucius Commentaries on the Book of Poetry, proposes that Han-guang of Zhou-nan should not at all be conceived as a love poem, but a poetic text admonishing the sons of the Zhou family not to court the nameless girls along the areas of the Han River.
