In this paper,through recognizing the visual symbol characteristics and the visual communication function of Chinese character again,using the rules of semantics and structure of language and pragmatics of symbol make a new interpretation to Chinese character design in visual communication,and propose a new design way of thinking and principle.
本文通过对汉字的视觉符号特征以及视觉传达功能的再认识,利用符号的语义学、语构学、语用学的规则对视觉传达中的汉字设计做出了新的阐释,提出了新的设计思维方法和原则。

The current situation and tendency of modern Chinese character design was analysed.
分析了现代汉字设计的现状及趋势,并对中国古代瓦当文字的审美特征进行了研究,找到了这一传统元素与现代汉字设计的契合点,在此基础上提出了现代汉字设计的新思路,以使传统文化精髓更好地融入并应用于现代汉字的图形化设计中。
