广州，高高耸立的银行大楼内，日常业务工作正在进行。突然，验钞的年轻职员脸色骤变，他匆匆跑进行长办公室报告，发现一批伪钞。于是，一场侦破假钞套汇集团的行动立即展开。在生意兴旺的个体摊集中的街市，公安局侦察员孙里和助手小张正在搜寻形迹可疑的人。在时装摊前，机警的侦察员发现可疑人正在做炒卖港币的买卖，当场将其抓获。通过审讯得到一个重要线索，一个叫黄鱼的人，携带假钞换取的巨款出逃，使整个套汇集团惶恐不安。僻静地段的一幢老式楼房，久居香港不归的林克汉突然回来，他稍事休息后，直奔一间华丽的音乐茶座，他的眼睛盯住了一个正在演唱的女歌星，她叫黄秋丽，在演唱"星星之歌"，这是正在伴奏的小提琴手唐云为她写的一支新曲。一曲歌罢，林先生捧上一大束鲜花表达他对黄秋丽的敬佩之意。黄秋丽很高兴林先生的捧场，但很久不知哥哥黄鱼的去向，却又使她郁郁寡欢。自从那晚林先生献花后，他那翩翩风度总是追随着黄秋丽。林先生猜透秋丽的心思，邀请她到香港灌制唱片，并买来昂贵的珍珠项链送给她，她惊羡林先生的富有。一天，黄鱼突然出现在秋丽的化装室，他不顾妹妹的劝阻决定出逃。黄秋丽爱哥哥，请求林先生帮助他，得到林先生的允诺，秋丽不由自主地投入林的怀抱。然而，她哪里知道这正是林的圈套。林克汉正是假钞集团的头目，他得知黄鱼的下落，便派人将黄鱼致于死地。单纯的秋丽得知真相痛不欲生。她不动声色来到林的住宅，一杯毒酒给了林克汉，一杯毒酒给了自己。公安人员及时出动，将罪犯一网打尽，追回了巨款。
