This paper discusses the lessons Chinese water-color painting draws from the traditional painting, which form its own features of stressing artistic mood, esteeming the character of water, holding the unitary color in esteem, and permeating the charming of character.

| 水彩画 watercolour 以水调和水彩颜料绘成的画。该颜料以胶水调制，透明，分干块状、锡管装两类。画纸质地结实，吸水性适中。笔为狼毫或羊毫所制，分扁、圆两类，型号大小有别。其他工具有调色盒(碟)、画板(夹)、笔洗 、铅笔等。画法有干画法、湿画法、浸接法、点彩法、渲染法等。水彩画借助于水表现透明度和色调浓淡，能体现出轻盈、润泽、明丽、淋漓等独特效果。水彩画约产生于15世纪末的欧洲，18世纪在英国发展成为独立画种。英国水彩画家有J.M.W.泰纳、J.康斯特布尔。水彩画约于19世纪末20世纪初传入中国，颇受中国画家的欢迎，现在已成为最普及的画种之一。 |
