不饱和聚酯通常用马来酸酐引人双键，但全用马来酸酐和二元醇反应制备的不饱和聚酯，双键密度太大，固化后物理性能很差，一般要用其它二元酸或酸酐代替部分马来酸酐，例如一般用马来酸酐／苯酐，其比例为1／3到3／1。二元醇可以是乙二醇、1，2-丙二醇、丁二醇、二甘醇等．乙二醇制得的聚酯，与苯乙烯相溶性差，最普遍使用的是1，2丙二醇。
