    不饱和聚酯是指主链中有不饱和双键的聚酯、它相醇酸树脂不同,醇酸树脂的双镀在侧链上,它依靠空气中的氧化作用而固化.不饱和聚酯的固化是依靠和作为溶剂的烯类单体如苯乙烯进行游离基共聚反应而固化,空气中的氧有阻聚作用.
    不饱和聚酯树脂不仅可用于涂料,而且大量地被用于粘合剂和玻璃钢.不饱和聚酯涂料具有良好的耐溶剂、耐水和耐化学性能,它有较好的光泽、耐磨并有较高硬度.其缺点是附着力往往因成膜时收缩太大而受影响、漆膜较脆、表面需要打磨和抛光.
不饱和聚酯的组成与原料的选择
    不饱和聚酯通常用马来酸酐引人双键,但全用马来酸酐和二元醇反应制备的不饱和聚酯,双键密度太大,固化后物理性能很差,一般要用其它二元酸或酸酐代替部分马来酸酐,例如一般用马来酸酐/苯酐,其比例为1/3到3/1。二元醇可以是乙二醇、1,2-丙二醇、丁二醇、二甘醇等.乙二醇制得的聚酯,与苯乙烯相溶性差,最普遍使用的是1,2丙二醇。
