time out
暂停(time out)一种常用于儿童行为矫正中的行为技术或惩罚形式。通过暂时地剥夺个体接受正性强化的机会而降低不良反应或问题行为的出现频度和l或可能性。通常的做法是在问题行为发生时将儿童短时间地移送到与社会隔离的环境中，让他独自待一段时间。在这段时间里，孩子失去了所喜爱的刺激、别人对他的注意等正性强化，在隔离中让他体验孤独感，这些都有助于他停止不良行为。当他停止问题行为而从事适当的活动时，立即结束对他的社会隔离。在实施暂停法时，要求孩子的父母和其他亲人控制自己对孩子不良行为的情绪反应，不是将这种方法强加于孩子，而应使孩子认识到这是他的不良行为的自然结果。此外，在“暂停”结束后，也不要再对孩子的不良行为进行斥责或抱怨。暂停不是单一的行为方法，它至少包括四种成分:消退、反应代价、对适当行为的强化和对不良行为的惩罚。暂停除了上述含义外，在心理治疗中有时也用来指下述情况:治疗者暂时离开治疗室，在屏风或单向玻璃后面与同事协商。 (梁宝勇撰徐俊见审)
