In this paper, a study from two aspects, the first is the conventional materials’special use in contemporary architecture, it includes concrete, stone, wood, metal, glass, and the second is the introduction of non-conventional materials in contemporary architecture, including polymeric materials, natural materials, waste materials, media materials.

The paper puts forward suggestions to the reasonable sampling of the conventional building material according to the work experience of the author.
