| 冈底斯山脉 横贯中国西藏自治区西南部，与喜马拉雅山脉平行，呈西北-东南走向，属褶皱山。冈底斯藏语意为众山之主。东接念青唐古拉山脉。长1100千米。海拔约6000米。玛法木错以北的主峰冈仁波齐峰，海拔6656米。位于普兰县。最高峰为冷布岗日，海拔7095米。喇嘛教以冈底斯山为宇宙中心，尊为圣地。尼泊尔人、印度人则以此山为湿婆（Siva，印度教三尊神之一）的乐园。冈仁波齐峰和纳木那尼峰间的玛旁雍错为圣湖。香客多来此朝拜。由巴噶经普兰，沿孔雀河谷有道路通往尼泊尔。地势高耸，为内陆水系和印度洋水系的分水岭。印度河上源狮泉河发源于冈底斯山北侧，朗钦藏布（象泉河）发源于山南，进入印度境内称萨特累季河。冈底斯山南北两侧均为地震活动带，曾多次发生过6级以上地震。
