文昌县

    位于中国海南岛东北部。西北濒琼州海峡,北、东、南临南海。面积2386平方千米 。1991年人口51.05万,汉族为主。汉为珠崖郡紫贝县地。隋大业三年(607)置临振郡武德县。唐武德五年(622)置平昌县,贞观元年(627)置文昌县。属热带季风气候,年均温23.9℃,年降水量1746毫米。矿产资源有铁、钛、铅、宝石、石英砂、水晶等10多种,储量4934.6万吨 。海岸线长206.7千米,有鱼类860种。主要物产有文昌鸡、海参、海龟、咖啡、椰雕、琼脂等。名胜古迹有文昌八景、文庙、宋庆龄祖居、铜鼓岭、东郊椰林、八门湾红树林。
