In this paper the advances in removal of pathogenic microorganism in drinking water by conventional disinfection technologies is briefly introduced.

In order to observe the influence of the suspension method tests given in new and old editions of 《Disinfection Technical Guidelines》on evaluation of germicidal efficacy of disinfectants, the suspension methods given in third edition and 2002 edition of the guidelines were used to measure the germicidal efficacy of Da-Jie-Ling disinfectant.

Based on the Charateristic of CIO2, by example of application of CIO2 disinfection technology in Eastern Sewage Treating Plant of ZhangZhou, this paper researches the influences of CIO2 to the elimination of CODcr, BOD5,PH,Chroma,Coliform and so on indexes of water quality of outlet of urban sewage treating plants.

Water disinfection has been applied for more than 100 years to water treatment, but not for a long time to wasterwater treatment, and even just started in China.

The practice shows that this disinfection technology is especially appropriateto.

Finally, the development of disinfection technology is discussed.
