爱尔维修（1715～1771） 法国启蒙思想家，哲学家。出生于巴黎一宫廷医生家庭，早年接受自由主义思想，曾任总包税官，后辞职专事著述。他继承和发展了J.洛克的唯物主义经验论，反对“天赋观念”和“自省”经验，认为感觉是一切知识的根本源泉，但他走向极端，认为一切都可归结到感觉。他试图建立以人性论为基础的道德学说，认为自爱心是人的本性，利益是决定人的行为的动力和判断人的行为的道德标准，提出合理利己主义观点。认为人的性格取决于社会环境和政治制度。他主张教育万能，要求清除天主教的蒙昧主义和封建专制，通过发展教育完美社会政治制度和法律，为人创造有利于发展私欲的环境。著有《论精神》、《论人的理智能力和教育》等。
