性质:又称香薄荷油。有夏冬油之分。分别由唇形科植物夏香薄荷(Satureia hortensis L. )和冬香薄荷(S. montann L. )的地上部分经水蒸气蒸馏所得。为浅黄至暗棕色液体。具辛香,似百里香和牛至。夏香薄荷油0.875~0.954,1.486~1.505,旋光度-5°~+4°(25℃),含酚量(以香芹酚汁)20.0%~57.0%。主成分为香芹酚、百里香酚、对异丙基甲苯,α-松油醇,对-1-盖烯-4-醇等。冬香薄荷油的成分中,香芹酚、乙酸龙脑酯、芳樟醇等含量稍高,百里香酚含量低。夏香薄荷油主产于南欧和美国,冬香薄荷油主产于西班牙、摩洛哥和南斯拉夫。用于日用和食品香精。
