Based on the introduction of the situation of coalbed methane exploitation and utilization,the paper analyzes the necessity,major problems and causes of coalbed methane exploitation and utilization.

CBM well pattern optimization is the key issue for CBM development.

This paper introduces the features and superiorities of CBM development of pinnate horizontal drainhole, and according to the geological requirements for the development of pinnate horizontal drainhole, analyzes Qinnan Basin, and selects the deployment area of pinnate horizontal drainhole.

The author points out that in the mining area with high gas content,low permeability,and multiple workable coal seams,only when we know better about the rules of methane occurrence and emission characteristics,can we adopt flexible technology so as to achieve effective methane drainage and CBM development.

In the process of coal-bed methane development,the appropriate producing method should be adopted with the principles of unhurried,long-term,continuous and steady.

By analyzing the environmental pollution and ecological destroy in the process of exploitation and utilization of coal, this paper reaches a conclusion that we must carry out clean production mechanism in the background of sustainable development, and proposes some strategies and suggestions under the situation and problems arising from the coal industry in our country.
