南方与北方两大风格不同的书法派别。宋代赵孟坚《论书》有“晋宋而下，分而南北”之语，清代阮元《南北书派论》以“东晋、宋、齐、梁、陈为南派，赵、燕、魏、齐、周、隋为北派”，实即以帖学为南派，以碑学为北派。但其说与书法史并不很符合。
