   用特定容器培育作物或果树、花卉、林木幼苗的育苗方式。容器盛有养分丰富的培养土等基质,常在塑料大棚、温室等保护设施中进行育苗,可使苗的生长发育获得较佳的营养和环境条件。苗随根际土团栽种,起苗和栽种过程中根系受损伤少,成活率高、发棵快、生长旺盛,对不耐移栽的作物或树木尤为适用。该法还为机械化、自动化操作的工厂化育苗提供了便利。育苗容器有两类:一类具外壁,内盛培养基质,如各种育苗钵、育苗盘、育苗箱等。另一类无外壁,将腐熟厩肥或泥炭加园土,并混少量化肥压制成钵状或块状,供育苗用。
