This research focused on the role of morpheme position frequency which includes both first-character position frequency and second-character position frequency in the process of two-character Chinese compound words.

This thesis attempts to explore the cognitive motivation in the construction of Noun-Noun compounds in English neologisms from the perspective of conceptual integration theory.

From the perspectives of conceptual structures and ways of cognition, this dissertation makes a cognitive investigation of metaphorical and metonymical construals of Chinese noun-noun compounds on the basis of the theory of Idealized Cognitive Models and Reference Point Theory.

The integrated meaning of a compound noun is generally motivated through the combined lexical meanings of its components together with their semantic relations.

From the perspective of morphological motivation,this article probes into different kinds of compound nouns,and makes an English-Chinese comparison of them so as to reveal their semantic motivations,figure out their senses and boost the efficiency of English vocabulary teaching.

It focuses on the differences between attributive nouns and compound nouns,attributive nouns and some attributive adjectives derived from nouns.
