Based on the data obtained from 12 cruises in the Pearl River estuary from 2002 to 2003, species composition and abundance variations of planktonic larvae were reported and environmental influences on planktonic larvae were discussed.

It was found that reproductive period of Scapharca shucrenata was from 10 July to late August at water temperature of 24～27 ℃on the basis of planktonic larvae and gonadosomatic index(GSI)in 1982～1984.
