      化学式 ZnS。自然界存在的闪锌矿是硫化锌矿。硫化锌为仅有的普通白色金属硫化物;熔点1700±20℃,密度4.102克/厘米3(25℃);在水中溶解度很小,溶于盐酸,不溶于乙酸。硫化锌在硫化氢气流中灼烧后转化为晶体,其结构单元中,硫居于锌原子构成的四面体中,锌也在硫的四面体中,配位数都为4。在锌盐溶液中加入硫化铵(NH4)2S,可得白色硫化锌沉淀:
  
  
  
  含有微量铜或银化合物的硫化锌晶体,能发射出不同的荧光颜色,可用于电视机、示波器和X射线器件。
