约瑟夫森结两端加上电压V有显示时(超过未显示时,即V=0时的最大超电流Ic),结区出现辐射频率v与V成正比的正弦超电流:v=2eV/h,e为电子电荷量,h为普朗克常数。若结区再受微波辐射,则在I-V特性曲线上,在某些分立的常电压下,直流电流会突然增大,出现被感应的一系列常电压-电流阶梯,台阶处Vn与相应辐照微波频率v的关系为:Vn=nhv/2e(n=0,1,2,…)。邻近电流阶梯间的电压差是等距离的,这种电流阶梯称微波感应阶梯,这是吸收电磁波所致,与上面所述辐射电磁波成为逆效应,这些现象统称为交流约瑟夫森效应,可用能量守恒来理解。对弱连结也呈现有交流约瑟夫森效应。用此效应测定的物理常数h/2e是最精确的,由于电流阶梯处V不变,已公认可监督电动势基准。
