位于河北省乐亭县姜各庄镇的更新村，原名拗榆树村，相传古时有冤情，冬日积雪累累之时却见有树叶常青而不落的一棵榆树，当地人以此作为抵抗压迫和侵略、正义与尊严的象征，后人为了纪念这一传说故事，取跨滦河村落为拗榆树村，简称拗榆树，后滦河发大水，河岸两扩，将原拗榆树村冲为2个建制村，后人称为南拗榆树村（属河北省昌黎县地界）和北拗榆树村（属河北省唐山市地界），现今说起拗榆树一般指北拗榆树。
