General cognitive ability(GCA) is a general factor that demonstrates the same mental traits across different fields,professions and ranks.

Based on the information processing theory and the analyzing of cognitive process, this study developed a new set General Cognitive Ability Test Battery, including six sub-tests: Graph inferring, object matching, computation, string contrasting, number arranging, number matching.

"Competence"here not only includes the professional competence,but also the"general competence"and the humanistic ability.

The theory of the core competence is built up upon such a hypothesis that competitive competence is made up of not only core competence but also general competence.
