补充资料:禅宗(chán-)
中国佛教宗派之一。以修禅定为主,故名。南朝宋末菩提达摩由天竺(印度)来华创立。至五祖弘忍门下,分成北方神秀的渐悟说和南方慧能的顿悟说两宗,时称“南能北秀”。北宗数传即衰,独南宗盛行,成为禅宗正系。唐后期几乎取代其他宗派,禅学成为佛学的代名词,影响及于宋明理学。提倡心性本净,佛性本有,强调“以无念为宗”和“即心是佛”、“见性成佛”,故自称“顿门”。门派众多,但南宋以来,只有临济、曹洞二宗盛行,且流传到日本。
