    位于中国甘肃省南部。面积3.9万平方千米。人口58.24万。有藏、汉、回、土、撒拉、满等24个民族，其中藏族占47.64％，多信仰黄教（喇嘛教格鲁派）。1953年成立甘南藏族自治州，政府驻地拉卜楞镇。1956年州驻地迁至合作镇（系藏语“黑错”之谐音）。辖临潭、卓尼、舟曲、迭部、玛曲、碌曲和夏河7县。甘南州资源丰富，有铁、铜、铅、锌、金、铀、汞、煤、石膏等20余种矿产。森林面积广大，除产木材、中草药、食用菌外，尚有数十种珍贵野生动物。畜牧业以经营绵羊、山羊、牦牛、马等为主。农业以种植青稞、油菜籽、牧草为主。土特产品有鹿茸、麝香、熊掌、熊胆、冬虫夏草、马奶酒、奶粉等。名胜古迹有拉卜楞寺、则岔石林、甘南草原、腊子口、八角城遗址等。
