均匀流体球自转时的一种平衡形状。1885年，庞加莱证明，除马克劳林椭球体和雅可比椭球体外，均匀流体自转时还存在另一类平衡形状。这类平衡形状与椭球体相差很小，故在一些文献中称为庞加莱椭球体。又因为李亚普诺夫已先在1884年提出存在这类平衡形状，所以在有的文献中又称为李亚普诺夫－庞加莱体。它主要有三种形状：①梨状体或卵状体。和雅可比椭球体相比，一头稍大，另一头稍小；②带状体。垂直于自转轴的截面都是椭圆或圆，而子午截面不是椭圆，但与椭圆相差很小。与椭圆比较时，有的弧段上要凸出些，有的则凹下些；③扇状体。它的子午截面都是椭圆或圆，而垂直于自转轴的截面不是椭圆，但同椭圆相差很少。与椭圆比较时，有的弧段凸出，有的凹下。此外，还有一些更复杂的形状。
