Methods Serum EPO levels were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in 42 thalassemic patients, including 8 patients with thalassemia major (TM) , 17 patients with thalassemia intermedia (TI) and 17 patients with hemoglobin H (HbH), and 25 normal controls were compared.

Objective:To measure the levels of serum transferrin receptors ( sTfR ) in patients with hemoglobin H disease for investigation the iron metabolism ( sideropenic or iron overload ) and to guide the proper intervention.
目的:检测血红蛋白H(hemoglobin H,HbH)病患者体内血清转铁蛋白受体(serum transferrin receptors,sTfR)的水平及血清铁蛋白(SF)浓度,借以了解HbH病患者体内的铁负荷状况;通过对sTfR及其复合参数sTfR/lgSF的分析比较,得出判断HbH病患者体内铁负荷状况的较优指标。

与遗传变异有关的一种疾病，呈常染色体显性遗传。杂合子可以发病，但不少种不稳定血红蛋白病人无明确的家族史。由于可能是遗传变异，自发基因突变，血红蛋白肽链上氨基酸的替换和丢失，使血红蛋白容易被氧化而引起慢性溶血性贫血。临床特征有红细胞赫恩小体和暗褐色尿。感染和/或使用氨喹型药物等可加重溶血，甚至发生溶血危象，并常伴有明显的贫血。无特效治疗方法，重点在预防感染和禁用伯氨喹啉型药物。
