The contents of soil organic carbon(SOC)and soil inorganic carbon(SIC)in different soil layers within 1 m depths in three different kinds of steppes(Stipa baicalensis steppe, Leymus chinensis steppe and Stipa grandis steppe), in the Xilin River Basin of Inner Mongolia, China , were determined in order to investigating effects of cultivating and grazing on the soil carbon in temperate grassland.
