新闻出版学院隶属于杭州电子科技大学，前身为杭州出版学校，2003年整建制并入杭州电子科技大学。学院下设印刷包装系和艺术设计系，拥有印刷工程、包装工程两个本科专业，以及印刷图文信息工程、印刷技术、印刷设备及工艺、图书发行与网络营销、英语编校技术、电脑艺术设计、包装技术与设计等高职专业。
学院依托行业，面向社会，旨在培养适应现代印刷、包装、出版以及相关行业生产、建设、管理、服务第一线需要的高等复合型应用技术人才。学院充分依托杭州电子科技大学学科门类齐全、师资力量雄厚、实验仪器设备精良、图书资料丰富等教育资源优势，现有教师中35％以上拥有高级技术职称，同时，还聘请了数十位在国内外享有盛誉的专家、学者任客座教授和兼职教授。学院注重学生实际能力的培养，设有与教学科研和行业发展相关的科研实验机构，并在校内外建立了包括浙江教育出版社、浙江人民出版社、浙江科技出版社、浙江印刷集团总公司、浙江发行集团总公司、浙江日报广告中心等校外实习实训基地。
