Through analyzing the problems existing in the development of Shanxi's coal industry,this paper puts forward some measures and suggestions on speeding up the development of Shanxi's coal industry,and points out that the development of Shanxi's coal-based economy must implement the strategy of sustainable development.

This paper introduces the achievements of the energy construction and the development of the coal-based economy in Shuozhou City,analyzes on the problems existing in the coal production and their causes,and puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions on the sustainable development of the coal-based economy.
