【美国保险代理制度】美国保险市场上保险公司众多，多达5000多家，中介人制度健全，保险市场发育相当成熟，消费者的保险意识也比较高。保险代理人是美国保险市场的中心角色。美国保险公司在不同险种领域利用各种类型的代理人。在人寿保险方面，美国主要以专用代理人为中心，即代理人只能为一家保险公司或某一保险集团代理业务。但近几年来，个人独立代理人与两家或两家以上保险公司签定代理契约、销售保险商品的代理人有所发展，业绩也很有进步。独立代理人多和专用代理人竞争。佣金通常比专用代理人低。在财产保险方面，美国以保险代理人和保险经纪人为中心。保险代理人同样存在独立代理人和专用代理人两种。在纽约州，没有代理人必须专属某一保险公司的规定。而且，一旦取得该州法律的许可，则同一代理人可以同时独立代理人寿保险商品与财产保险业务。但该州规定，保险经纪人不得办理人寿保险与年金保险业务。
