【上海市保险业同业公会】中国大陆成立的第一个地区性保险同业公会。成立于1994年2月4日，由人保公司上海市分公司、太平洋保险上海分公司、友邦保险上海分公司、平安保险上海分公司共同组成，各家公司分别推荐二名代表组成首届理事会。中国人民银行上海市分行以观察员身份参加公会的有关活动。该同业公会的宗旨是:建立保险行业的自律机制，自觉维护保险市场公平竞争;保障保险人和被保险人的利益，促进上海保险市场健康、有序的发展。其主要任务为:加强各会员之间的相互交流和学习、探讨;维护保险人的利益，沟通与保险主管部门及其他部门的联系;发挥咨询、参谋作用，协助保险主管部门做好管理工作;维护被保险人利益，在保险主管部门颁布基本条款和费率的基础上，制订共同遵守的竞争准则;督促会员单位贯彻执行各项金融保险政策;协调各会员之间的矛盾和争议及涉及共同利益的问题;接受保险主管机关的委托，开展保险中介人的培训工作，以促进保险中介机构的发展;对严重违反公会制订的共同规则和决议的行为进行纠正和必要的处理等。
