峨嵋峰位于泰宁县北新桥乡境内，距县城24公里，属于武夷山脉中段西南麓，峨嵋峰主峰海拔1714米，是福建省第七高峰；2000年，被省政府批准为省级自然保护区，保护区面积达2700多公顷，因山势类似四川峨嵋而得名。古树老藤、奇花异草、绝壁险峰、灌木草地、飞禽走兽、虫鸟蝉鸣、流云飞雾，是峨嵋峰的写照。
