The purpose of this paper is to survey the results of the study:(i)congruence canonical forms of the positive (semi)definite real matrix and matrix couples and simultaneous diagonalization of two matrices;(ii)the H- congruence canonical forms of the positive (semi)definite complex matrix and matrix couples and simultaneous diagonalization of two matrices.
