【重复保险】投保人将同一保险标的向两家或两家以上的保险公司投保相同危险的保单，在其保险期限相同的时期内，该保险标的的总保险金额超过可保价值的一种保险。英国法律规定，所有承保的保险人应按比例分摊风险，如果保险标的发生损失，则被保险人可选择其中一家保险公司索赔，而后由所有承保的保险人分摊赔款;但在美国，则应由居先承保的保险人负担全部风险，其他保险人免赔。只要不是故意的，对免除赔偿责任的保险公司应将被保险人已付的保险费退还。尽管英美保险单对重复保险的条款有区别，但对被保险人的保障并无不同。中国《保险法》规定，重复保险，由各保险人按其保险金额与保险金额总和的比例承担赔偿责任。重复保险仅限于非寿险业务。
