曲艺史著作。陈汝衡著。1979年出版。在《宋代以前说书简述》一章中，讲述宋以前说书人的产生、瞽者说书等历史情况，以及六朝以来的志怪小说、唐人传奇、寺院俗讲、变文等与民间说唱的关系。同时，著者对北宋至南宋的瓦舍、勾栏等说书场地以及流浪江湖的"打野呵"艺人的说书情况都有叙述。书中详尽论证了南宋说话四家、说书艺术在宋代的发展以及"水浒"故事的形成。本书对讲史、小说、说经、鼓子词、诸宫调、合生、陶真等历史上的说书艺术形式都有论述，并在最后一章《从南宋话本看说书艺术》中论述了说书的内容与说书艺术的关系。
