| 机能心理学 functional psychology 19世纪末20世纪初的美国心理学派 ，代表当时美国心理学的主流。这个学派受C.R.达尔文进化论的影响和W.詹姆斯实用主义思想的推动，主张心理学的研究对象是具有适应性的心理活动，强调意识活动在人类的需要与环境之间起重要的中介作用。1890年 ，詹姆斯在《心理学原理》一书中指出：“心理学是研究心理生活的科学，研究心理生活的现象及其条件。”他还主张意识的功用是指引有机体适应环境，强调意识是流动的东西，称为意识流。机能心理学作为一个自觉的学派创始于J.杜威。其他重要代表有J.R.安吉尔和H.A.卡尔。这个学派的活动中心是芝加哥大学。由于机能心理学对心理的研究已从单纯主观方面（心理、意识）扩大到心理的客观方面（外部行为），因此，这个学派为行为主义心理学开拓了道路。在机能心理学的影响下，个别差异心理学、各种心理测验、学习心理学、知觉心理学等在美国有了明显的发展。 |
