本文主要探讨了梅耶荷德戏剧理论、创作实践与中国当代新戏剧运动产生、演变与发展的关系问题,并试图从三个层面来把握这一研究课题:第一部分主要阐述梅耶荷德戏剧思想与创作道路的基本要旨、梅耶荷德戏剧理想在中国戏剧环境中的生存状态以及展开这个中西比较论题的可能性与必要性问题;第二部分转到梅耶荷德与中国当代新戏剧运动比较上来,首先说明了中国当代新戏剧运动的界定问题,而后分别从革命性、假定性、剧场性三个方面来勾画并揭示出梅耶荷德与中国当代新戏剧运动的具体关系;第三部分通过对高行健、林兆华、牟森、孟京辉和王晓鹰几位导演、剧作家的个案研究,来考察梅耶荷德对中国当代新戏剧发生影响作用的机理、过程、结果和意义,这一影响的方式主要体现为移植、借鉴、启发和本土化变异。
