描述Hypoxidaceae仙茅科，单子叶植物，5属，90种，主产南半球和热带亚洲，我国有仙茅属Curculigo和小金梅草属Hypoxis2属，8种，产西南部至东南部，其中仙茅入药。草本，有块状根或球茎；叶常基生，有明显的纵脉；花两性或单性，辐射对称，常黄色，单生或排成稠密的头状花序；花被管长或缺，6裂；雄蕊6；子房下位，3室，每室有胚珠多颗；果为一环裂或纵裂的蒴果或肉质浆果。本科在Engler系统置于石蒜科内。
